MODEL HISTORY & PRODUCTION
Ferruccio Lamborghini introduced his exotic Countach prototype at the Geneva 1971 Auto Show. A direct replacement of the much successful Muira, the car’s wedge shaped styling design by Macello Gandini of Bertone Design Studio seized the attention of the automobile world.
This powerful mid-engined sports car was low and wide with sharp edges that are present in the modern Aventadore. Scissor doors became a world renowned design and was much loved as a poster Supercar in period. The body was light and strong with aircraft grade aluminium skin over a tubular space frame.
Once production started, the distinctive styling put the Countach in its own class. The combination of a stand out design and performance characteristics gave it the ‘Supercar’ status. Throughout its production life, (1971-1990) the Countach was continuously refined. A key enhancement came in 1982 with the debut of the LP500S Model and its larger 4,754 cc 375 horesepower engine, capable of taking the car to a top speed of 160 mph plus.
THIS ACTUAL CAR
This model is one of only 321 Lamborghini Countach LP500 S models ever produced, and even rarer in right hand drive form. A well known Countach, which featured in numerous magazines and made multiple press appearances in period with its famous first owner. A UK delivered vehicle which is worthy of any collection or Supercar enthusiast.
It comes from a desirable collection, with extensive restoration, mechanical and cosmetic work having been done in the hands of its current owner. A delight to drive, reminiscent of the first LP500S our Parry Chana drove some 20 years ago, albeit in much better condition having been well cherished.
Full paintwork in striking red and mechanical work was undertaken before it arrived at Lux Classics, where the owner commissioned a professional full cosmetic detail. This included a reconolise to the interior leather to enhance its tan colour, which now looks almost new.
Comes with a nice history file and magazine articles with its first UK owner.
This vehicle is available for viewing in our showroom in UK near Stansted Airport on an appointment
basis, and would compliment any car collection, with whom this vehicle will represent a good
acquisition opportunity.
