MODEL HISTORY & PRODUCTION
The Rolls Royce Silver Cloud was a luxurious vehicle introduced by Rolls Royce in 1955 through to 1966, replacing the Silver Dawn. The Cloud became the core model for Rolls Royce during this period, beginning with the introduction of the Silver Cloud I from 1955 to 1959, where upon the Cloud II was introduced and continued until 1962, when the final version, Silver Cloud III was introduced becoming the final model of THE Silver Cloud era, being replaced by the all new Silver Shadow.
Replacing the Cloud I, the most noticeable change was the introduction of a new power unit, Rolls Royce installed their newly developed 6.2 liter V8 engine. As a result, performance improved significantly to a top speed of 114 mph with improvements in acceleration and torque.
Power steering was now standard with electric windows now appearing on the option list, along with improved ventilation and revised interior and exterior lighting.
THIS MOTOR VEHICLE
Full preparation by our dedicated team of professionals, with a full body detail to further enhance its gleaming black paintwork and chrome work along with its sumptuous leather and walnut interior which benefits from having the factory fitted option of front and rear electric windows.
This matching engine numbers Cloud II was delivered new to a Mr H Mitchell Esq on the 12/1/61 to his business premises E. Clarke & Sons Addlestone ltd. prepared by RR Lillie Hall, Fulham, London and was famously one of Mr Rolls first showrooms. This vehicle comes presented with a good history file of previous owners including its original handbook and documentation of a major restoration commissioned by the current owner completed in 2015, including a full retrim in a warming beige leather complimented by beige carpets. The burr walnut woodwork is likewise in wonderful condition extending to the occasional tables in the seat backs.
Under the bonnet this car is tidy and clean looking driving with that unmistakable silence whilst gliding along. In our opinion, this motor vehicle provides an excellent opportunity to own a piece of motoring history at a fraction of the cost of purchasing a donor vehicle & cost of restoration to bring to the level & condition currently presented.
This vehicle is available for viewing in the UK on an appointment basis & would suit a collector with whom this vehicle will represent a good acquisition opportunity.
